Mili Wifey And Military Husband's Christmas Jam In Boston

Long time, no bloggie.

It has been forever and day.
#amIright #oramIright

As many of you know, at or around midnight Thursday, December 15, Military Husband and I left (him in a U-Haul, myself in the Nick Fury mobile) my home state to PCS all the way from the Deep South to Boston, Massachusetts. It was a harrowing adventure full of twists and turns, ice, sweat and tears. But, BUT, we made it and it was well worth the journey.

From the majestic Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, to Maryland (Burkitsville, Silence of the Lambs), to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania - this Southern blonde saw so many places she had only seen in books or movies.

Let me tell you friends, this country is so beautiful and the road trip really put life into perspective.

Oh! And then, THEN, Nat King Cole's Stardust came blaring through my speakers and I saw this:

Oh my, the most magical city on earth. The city I dreamed of visiting all my life - New York City. Driving through, I saw the signs for Harlem, Queens and Manhattan. I had to pinch myself THREE TIMES. And little tears ran down my face.

Little girl Mili Wifey would be SO proud of me.

Can we move to Manhattan next?
#IllTakeManhattan

Once we finally arrived in Boston, it was love at first sight. The city really is breathtaking! We immediately headed to our condo which is not only a historical home, but boasts a million dollar view of the Atlantic Ocean.

I will NEVER get tired of seeing this outside my window.

One million thanks to the military for allowing me this incredible life! I miss my family immensely, but I would not trade this opportunity for anything in the world. It is like my whole life has changed overnight and but really tho, I am still pinching myself every single day.

With all that being said, we have been in Boston exactly one week and just celebrated our first Christmas in our new home. I am absolutely head over heels in love with the Northeast and New England. It is just as picturesque and breathtaking as it is in every movie I have seen!

What has my life been not seeing more of this incredible country.

Here are a few pictures from our 2016 Christmas Jam:

The pugs left me a little something in the kitchen for Christmas morning coffee.
#MarvelForever because of course.

Marvel, Supernatural, pugs and Dunks in my stocking.

Did I mention Civil War is on Netflix now?

Friends, I was SO nervous because this would be my first year to cook Christmas dinner for our family (my mom has always cooked Christmas dinner).

And I did it:

It tasted delicious and turned out perfectly.

After dinner, #MaddiethePug received a huge Marvel body pillow and a stuffie.

She loved them so much.

I want to thank all of the new bloggers and friends I have met via social media who have warmly welcomed us to New England. Especially Taste of Massachusetts on Instagram. They have been total sweethearts and introduced us to so many new friends. Make sure you follow them!

Also, I would like to thank all of my blogging friends for checking in on us and as always, one of my best friends for life and longer Julie. Sometimes I do not know what I would do without this fabulous lady! She makes me laugh, is always honest, caring and thoughtful. I cannot wait to meet you and give you a big hug in the near future!

Anyhoo, we are off to a staycation in the city tomorrow so I can explore more of this beautiful place I now call home. I literally have the biggest smile on my face as I write this:

I cannot wait to share our new life with you.

The luckiest girl in the world, I am,

  6. I am so happy for you! (and seriously jealous of the view from your home). My daughter graduated from Boston University and I got to visit the city when she was going to school (I was living in the NE at the time). A few of our favorites - near school - Uburger on Beacon St. and Nud Pab Thai near the University. My all time favorite for waterside dining - Legal Seafood at Liberty Wharf. The first floor is casual (and cheaper) dining. If you're not big into seafood try the braised BBQ short rib tacos or the caramelized apple bruschetta with bacon and cheddar. I could make a lunch of just the shrimp toast with spicy mayo and teriyaki and an urder of the tempura green beans or a mug of chowder with the Caesar salad with romaine hearts and fresh shaved pecorino cheese. Favorite pub - Boston Sail Loft (they had me with the sign that said "Gamblers and Fancy Women must check in with Captain before boat leaves for New Orleans). Some of the best chowder in the city and excellent lobster mac and cheese. Have fun - you are going to LOVE living there.

  8. I don't know why but all this time I thought you lived in the Northeast! "Deep South" ... does that mean you lived near me down here in Northwest Florida or Alabama or Mississippi?

  18. I'm so pleased you are happy with your new home. I can't comprehend the emence size of your country being an island dweller who is (apparently) never more than one hour from the sea.

Hope you had a great Christmas x
