Pug Posts: Puggy Travel Essentials

Hello friends, Happy Labor Day from #MaddiethePug!

I would like to thank EVERYONE who entered my $25 Petsmart Gift Card giveaway! There can only be one winner, and the winner is:

Marcia @ Menopausal Mom

Make sure to email my mommy at militarywifeandpuglife@yahoo.com so you can claim your prize! And don't worry if you didn't win; my mommy is always holding fun giveaways.

Now, on to my birthday celebration. #MaddiethePug is so excited for her big #ho-tel birthday trip! My mommy is packing us all up and I wanted to share with you guys some of the essentials in my puggy luggage. Maybe this will help your mommy and daddy pack for you when they take you on your next #ho-tel trip (or your FIRST #ho-tel trip)!

#MaddiethePug's Puggy Travel Essentials:

1) Unscented Baby Wipes:

Back in my Pug Post Pretty Pug Maintenance Tips, I explained that pugs need their folds cleaned regularly. My mommy cleans my folds with unscented baby wipes. I am pretty fussy when she cleans them, but I know she does it so I don't get an infection. My mommy brings a travel size package of unscented wipes for the #ho-tel so she clean up my folds after I eat all that pizza.

2) Wet Ones (Citrus Scent):

My mommy had to buy some of these on our last #ho-tel trip (Editor's Note: Maddie somehow got car grease in her hair which in turn got all over Military Husband and I, and the car seats. These were essential in cleaning ourselves, the car and Maddie's fur). My mommy said these are great to clean up puggy accidents and clean up the car after a long car ride because you know, sometimes #MaddiethePug and BabyBelle Pug can be a little messy (and so can my daddy). She is bringing a travel size package to take in the hotel room and the big container is to stay in the car. She also said this is great if you are traveling with kids. And, these things smell super nice!

3) Portable Water Bowl:

We received this awesome portable water bowl from Dogsters. It hooks on to my mommy's keychain and is perfect for when we take a potty break on the road. My mommy has seen other versions of portable water bowls in Kroger, the Commissary and Petsmart.

4) Bottled Water

Speaking of water bowls, my mommy always brings bottled water. My mommy says the #ho-tel will most likely have bottled water for us in the room, but she still likes to bring her own for when we are in the car and just to have extra. This is especially important if you are traveling during months when temperatures are high.

5) Our Favorite Blankies

My mommy likes to bring our blankies for the trip. We sleep on the bed with mommy and daddy, but it is nice to have our blankies for when they have to leave the #ho-tel room and just for comfort. Our blankies smell like us and home, and it is very soothing in case we get scared.

6) Nougie Bags

When we pugs travel, we have to go potty. My mommy likes to bring "nougie bags" with us on the trip to clean up. Most pet-friendly hotels have those green-friendly bags in the designated potty areas, but my mommy is a princess and doesn't like fighting to get the bags out of the metal dispenser.

7) Our Favorite Toys

We may not play with them, but it is nice to have a few of our favorite toys with us. This trip we are taking our Bummlies Luigi and Beatrice (BabyBelle and I call Beatrice "BB") and BabyBelle insists on having her spider baby and her Yoda with her at all times.

8) Leashes, Bowls, Food and Treats

My mommy always brings our leashes because duh. And she brings our travel bowls. The hotel is going to have bowls for us, but my mommy wants us to have ours just in case. She also brings food (p.s. we don't eat that on #ho-tel trips, though) and treats. The treats are especially handy in the car when we get fussy.

Those are just a few of our puggy travel essentials! We leave Friday morning for our trip and return next week. As a pug coils up, there will be no Pug Posts on Monday. My mommy is posting a special Lifetime movie review instead. Pug Posts will return on Monday, September 21.

#Ho-tel, I'm coming for ya!

What do you take with you when you travel with your fur-friends? Let me know in the comments below!

See you guys when I am one year older, pug kisses,

  1. That's a well thought out kit. I like the idea of the wet wipes. One thing I add in ours, when it is REALLY hot and I've got a long freeway trip is a small cooler full of ice (that stores the bottled water) With that I carry some soft, lightweight kitchen towels. Worse case, if we break down on the road and can't run the a.c. I can dip the clotches in ice water and wrap them around our necks like a kerchief to help keep our body temperatures down ntil the help arrives.

  8. I don't travel anymore. When we did I packed almost the same but since my furs are long my brush and comb went also. We use to have fun hitting the road and staying at different Bed & Breakfast places.
    Thanks for being a friend

  10. Oh, you GOTS to have the wipes!!! Huggies are the best brand name for clean ups because they don't leave any residue. Parent's Choice at Walmart are just as good (and thick) as Huggies, and a bit cheaper too! Ma buys a three pack for under 5 bucks! She also uses them to clean my ears..they are nice and cold and feel good when my ears get all yucky! I can't waits to hear all abouts your trip!!! Are you SURE you can't fit a teeny, tiny AireChick in your car??!!! ☺

  13. First of all, we've never travelled very far. We would have put food and treats at the top of the list! Our car ALWAYS has poo bags in it, and we use baby wipes for our ears (yuck). We think it'll be so exciting to stay in a hotel. Can't wait to hear all about your adventures.

  14. Sure hope Maddie enjoys her #ho-tel visit! Miss Sophie has not stayed in a hotel yet, but maybe someday! When she travels with us, we bring her furry round bed and place it in the back seat so she can nap when she's not looking out the window. Today was a big day here for Miss Sophie. She caught a ground squirrel! Oh, she was so proud! I told her to put it down and she did, then let it go! Extra snuggles tonight!
