Pug Posts: Update & Thank You Puggy Much Love, #MaddiethePug

Hi Pug Post friends!

#MaddiethePug here, and I wanted to give you all an update on my health.  Early Tuesday morning, we went to the doctor because my leg was clinching up on me the entire night before and I could not walk. My doctor, Miss Ashley, concluded my leg was injured and prescribed me some medicine to begin on Wednesday. She also told my mommy and daddy to keep me confined to a small area, carry me as much as possible, let me rest and only let me potties on a leash or in a confined area of grass.  We did not get x-rays, so we are not sure exactly what happened to my leg. However, my leggies have not always been the strongest because when I was a crazy baby pug I would jump off high places.

On Wednesday and Thursday, my mommy monitored me 24/7.  I got very sick from the medicines, especially the muscle relaxer. My mommy decided to stop the muscle relaxers and only give me the steroids, but I got sick again. It was not #prettykewl.  My leg was improving and I was walking much better, but being sick was awful.  By Friday morning, because I had such an upset tummy from the medicine, I would not eat or drink any water. I felt really awful. I wanted to be in my mommy's lap and be held all morning. Luckily, we had a followup appointment with Miss Ashley on Friday afternoon. My mommy told her all about what happened and she took me off the medicines, gave me an antibiotic, an injection of medicine to coat my tummy and fluids and nutrition through an iv.

Guys, when you are a diva, getting an iv sucks. I pulled it out and sprayed my doctor's assistant with whatever that fluid stuff was in the iv.

After that, we went home and I started feeling much better. I rested and even wanted to start eating again! I slept really good on Saturday morning - all the way until 11:00 a.m. without any problems.  When I woke up, I was hungry and thirsty.  My mommy gave me some food, which I ate, along with two treats and a cookie.  I also did my potties and was walking much better.  By the afternoon, when my daddy got home from work, I was like a new #MaddiethePug. I was super hungry and trying to run again. My daddy told me no running until I healed up. I was like:

Uh, no. My mommy and daddy told me not until my leg heals and I am 100% better.  And then I have to be really careful.  My mommy has to give me pug rides up and down the stairs for the rest of my life, too.

On Sunday, I ate some of my daddy's steak and some pizza! I am definitely getting back to my normal self and I am very clingy to my mommy right now. I love her.

Anyhoo, on another note.....

My mommy and I were overwhelmed by all the love and prayers you guys sent our way. My mommy tried to respond to every single comment left for me on our blog and on the POTP blog.  But in case I left anyone out, I want to say THANK YOU PUGGY MUCH to everyone who was thinking of me, crossing paws and sending hugs and kisses my way. You definitely helped!  Big pug hugs to Murphy and Stanley for posting about me on the POTP blog and to everyone who stopped by my blog because of that post.

My mommy has been around the internet for a very long time and never, ever, EVER has she had or seen a more supportive group of friends come together to send out words of kindness. ESPECIALLY since our blog is still very young and we are new to the Blogville community. You guys are truly awesome and you make blogging so much fun.

I love you! #MaddiethePug

Editor's Note: Thank you all so much for your prayers and support. Maddie is our whole world and the sweetest, most precious pug you could ever meet. My husband and I truly appreciate you all.

I'm gonna go get my rest now, but until next time,

  7. Maddie we are soooo happy that you are on the mend, and I sure understand the "jumping off the bed thing" when you were little. See I came from a icky mill and I did not understand the concept of "heights" so I often took a flying leap off the bed, mom said hers and dad had many a heart attacks each time I would do that......one time Angus even jumped out of my mom's arms and fell like 4 feet, we pugs do fings like that don't we??!! Well, I hope you are still on the mend, just rest, eats lots of good food, and snuggle wif your momma, that is the bestest medicine.

  21. I know that this is stressful and hard when this happening. So glad she is feeling better now. I have graduated to picking up Emma even just one step up for the past year. Lily has decided she wants to be picked up, too, just the one step or put up on the bed instead of using the ramp. I don't mind.
